Through February 27

Through February 27

Kids For The Cause

February is American History Month. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Garden City Chapter, Colonel Aaron Ogden will present a showcase exhibit “The Role of Children During the American Revolution” through Feb. 27 at the Garden City Public Library. Learn how adults were not the only ones engaged in the fight for freedom. Among the young people that will be focused on is 16-year-old Sybil Ludington, who engaged in a Paul Revere-like ride to warn colonists and gather her father’s soldiers to push back the British army when it attacked Danbury, Conn. This collection will recognize colonists’ children like Ludington who also demonstrated bravery, strength and sharp-wittedness in the long battle for independence.

Exhibits are free and open to the public during regular library hours. For hours and directions, please call 516-742-8405 or visit www.gardencitypl.org The library is located at 60 Seventh St. in Garden City. Exhibit funding is sponsored by Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Installation and removal dates are subject to change.
