Green Vale School Students Win

Twenty-seven second- and third-grade math students at The Green Vale School in Old Brookville recently took first place in the Nassau County SumDog Math Competition.

The week-long, online contest involved 10 schools and included 814 students. “Intense focus, careful calculations and dedication — it’s what we as a math team are all about,” said math specialist Melissa Noga.

After correctly answering 17,602 questions, collectively, the Green Vale team was elated to discover that they placed in the top spot. Second-grade student Anna Sophia placed within the top 10 of participating students in the county.
