Floral Park Chamber Of Commerce News

The Floral Park Chamber of Commerce held its monthly member meeting on Feb. 7 at the warm and cozy Nancy’s Restaurant on Jericho Turnpike. The owners of Nancy’s were gracious as always and served up a delicious meal. We celebrated the efforts of our past president, Terry Whalen of Sterling Signs, and thanked her for her more than 15 years as a member of the chamber as well as her seven years as president. The chamber is stronger than ever thanks to Terry’s leadership.

Ron Keats of Keats Agency – Nationwide Insurance, the incoming president of the chamber, went over the many things going on at the chamber. This included an update of the organization of the new committees, many of which are currently in action. All are still seeking out committee members and preparing for their first set of meetings. We have more committee members signed up than ever and would like to see even more. The more you do with the chamber, the more you get out of it.

The business relations committee, which includes beautification, Taste of the Town and our “Shop Local” theme, is led by Mike Jakob of Carriage Trade Insurance, and already has village approval for street post hanging plants and new banners for Jericho Tpke. and part of Tulip Ave. The baskets and banners will be purchased and donated by the chamber and maintained by our village.

The Street Fair Committee, led by Cathy Grasman of Jo-Mar Pet Grooming is beginning its planning for this year’s street fair which will be held on Sunday, June 8. Cathy will be meeting with NYRA’s representatives.

The membership committee is being led by Marie Grant of Donnelly Group and is in full gear for our 2014 membership enrollment. Please do renew now, or if you’re not a member, join now online at www.floralparkchamber.org.

Membership in the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce is loaded with benefits. Check out the website for a list but remember, it’s all about getting involved. The chamber is a great place to meet your local merchants, increase your business exposure, expand on your networking and have some fun while you are at it.
