Science Olympians

The Western Long Island Regional Science Olympiad Competition was recently held at C.P. Weber Middle School. The competition was intense, but when it was over the team from Island Trees Middle School finished 18th in a field of 40 teams. The achievement was the result of the hard work, skill and dedication of students who represented Island Trees at the competition. 

 

During the competition, performances were turned in by Yoon Ho Choi, Jordan Miller, James Kohler and Jugraj Lochab.  Students who placed in the competition were Kenny Chan and Kirsten Krick-  12th place in Rocks & Minerals; Shannon Thearle and Neelofer

Mohmand – 12th place in Entomology; Kirsten Krick and Jimmy Mossman  -10th place in Road Scholar; Shannon Thearle and Kristina Welsh – 8th place in Invasive Species; and Stephen Black and Mya Serrano – 8th place in Dynamic Planet.

 

Winners included: David Wendt and Sohrab Saljooki who took 2nd place in Metric Mastery; and David Wendt, Justin Zhang and Ethan Garcia, who took 6th place in Shock Value.
