A fourth-grader at Pasadena Elementary School in Plainview won first place at the annual Knights of Columbus Free-Throw Contest, beating out the competition from all of downstate New York.
Dylan Banner now heads to the New York State Championship at West Point April 5. Banner plays on the St. Pius X fourth grade team, where the initial contest representing the in-house Knights of Columbus chapter. Dylan then competed against other local Knights’ chapters at Pius again in which he won to advance to the Nassau regionals. At the Nassau regionals at Holy Trinity, Dylan drained 24 of 25 free throws to represent all of Nassau County. On March 23 at Chaminade High School, he beat out three other contestants from Brooklyn, Queens and Suffolk to represent downstate New York next week at West Point. Thanks to Dylan too for wearing the St. Pius X sweatshirt and jersey throughout the competition representing St. Pius and Plainview.
