The Oyster Bay-East Norwich PTSA has refashioned its lavish annual event, A Taste of the Gold Coast, and brought it to a new venue, downtown Oyster Bay – for A Taste of the Town, on Thursday, May 15, from 7 to 11 p.m.
The Gold Coast committee felt it was time to shake things up.
“Each year we ask our merchants to donate to our event and they have done exactly that for the last 13 years,” said Diana Hauser, a PTSA board member. “This year we felt it was time to give back to them.”
A Taste of the Town will be a stroll through Oyster Bay, where restaurants and other merchants will offer food, wine, beer tastings, raffles and many other treats. Participating destinations include: Jack Halyards, Canterbury Ales, The Homestead, Oak Cliff Sailing Center, The Oyster Bay Brewery, Chrison & Bellina, The James Guy Shop, The Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery and an outdoor lounge provided by Dodds & Eder.
The goal is to bring 200 to 300 people into downtown for an evening stroll, or a trolley ride, while they enjoy a true taste of the town. The idea is to make Oyster Bay the venue while raising money for scholarship programs and high school enrichment including the College Awareness trips, Challenge Day and Cultural Arts Programs like Shakespeare Theater Day.
The OBEN PTSA has the support of the Chamber of Commerce in the planning of this event. Price is $65 per ticket. For more information, ticket sales or to donate to the raffle and silent auction, please email OBTaste@gmail.com
