A 45-year-old man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle in North Lindenhurst on Monday morning.

Suffolk County police said Douglas Shapiro, of Lindenhurst, was riding a BMW motorcycle northbound on North Wellwood Avenue when he was sideswiped by a Chrysler shortly after 8 a.m.

Shapiro was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

The other driver, 38-year-old Maria Martinez of West Babylon, was not injured.

First Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who has information to contact them at 631-854-8152.
