Two men were wounded in separate shootings several hours and about 20 miles apart in Long Beach and North Amityville on Sunday evening, authorities in Nassau and Suffolk counties said.

In the first case, 23-year-old Jamar Ambrose of Copiague was shot in the leg while at a party at a house on Avon Drive in North Amityville shortly after 7 p.m., Suffolk County police said.

Then at 11:38 p.m., Long Beach city police officers responded to a report of a 24-year-old Long Beach man suffering a gunshot wound to his right arm at Channel Park Homes on Center Street, police said.

The victim in that case was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital for treatment. Ambrose was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was treated. Both victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made in either case. There was no description of the suspects, either. Long Beach police are continuing the investigation into the second shooting.

First Squad detectives are continuing the investigation into the North Amityville case and ask anyone with information on this incident to call them at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
