Cardiac Monitors For Rescue Squad

The Floral Park Fire Department recently received a grant from legislators Richard Nicolello and Vincent Muscarella for the purchase of a Physio-Control LifePak 15, cardiac monitor. Floral Park Ex-Chief Luciano D’Amore was instrumental in obtaining the grant for the LifePak which will be used in the department’s new ambulance scheduled for delivery shortly.

D’Amore said, “The upgrade to our seven-year-old cardiac monitor with a new unit that meets the latest standard of care specified by the American Heart Association best fits the needs of our advanced emergency medical technicians when caring for cardiac patients.”

Mayor Tom Tweedy thanked Legislator Nicolello and Legislator Muscarella for their assistance in acquiring this essential part for our new ambulance. He also expressed his appreciation to Ex-Chief D’Amore and Floral Park’s all-volunteer Fire Department.

Tweedy said that the LifePak 15 is capable of acquiring, analyzing and sending to the hospital a 12-lead EKG which can decrease the time it takes for the cardiac patient to obtain lifesaving treatment upon arrival at the hospital. “This will enable us to continue to provide the highest quality of advanced emergency medical care to residents in need,” added Tweedy.

Chief Daniel Bennett also thanked Ex-Chief D’Amore and the legislators and added that the unit provides the capability to monitor a patient’s heart rhythm, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and exhaled carbon dioxide which aids in diagnosis and pre-hospital care.

Bennett said, “The LifePak 15 is a vitally-needed component for our new ambulance.”
