West Hempstead Crash Leaves Girl, 13, Dead

A 13-year-old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in West Hempstead on Wednesday afternoon.

Nassau County police said the victim was riding her bike across Eagle Avenue at the corner of Park Avenue, when she was hit by a Cadillac driven by a 24-year-old woman shortly after 3 p.m.

The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead less than an hour later. Her identity was not immediately released.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded the vehicle was and found no criminality.
