Jimmy Klein, a retired NYPD sergeant and resident of Floral Park, was struck by an auto on Jan. 7 while walking home from the train station. He sustained life threatening injuries but continues to recover.
A fundraiser will be held on June 28 from 7 p.m. to midnight at St. Hedwig’s Parish to help offset his medical expenses. Admission is $50 and includes food, soda, beer and music. Raffles, T-shirts, and prizes will be available. Reservations are needed before June 10.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brings their swingin’ big band era sound to the beach at Point Lookout for the Town of Hempstead’s Annual Independence Celebration on Saturday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Along with the free concert, the evening includes a breathtaking fireworks display and a patriotic tribute to heroic military veterans.

Stewart Manor Fire Department will hold its annual Fourth of July Parade on July 4. The parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. from many of the side streets off Stewart Ave. continuing to the fire house on Covert Ave.
