Is it science or is it magic? That was the question on everyone’s mind during a recent assembly at VillageElementary School. In his wildly entertaining and informative presentation, the brilliant Mr. Fish showed students that science really is magic! Mr. Fish used an array of everyday objects to demonstrate all kinds of science concepts.
Students watched in amazement as he successfully pulled a tablecloth out from under a stack of dishes and glasses to showcase velocity, friction, and inertia. Volunteers cracked a whip to create a sonic boom and learned a lesson in aerodynamics as Mr. Fish used a pizza box to fashion and then throw a boomerang. The budding scientists even discovered how to stick a needle through a balloon without popping it! Special thanks to our Arts in Education chairpersons, Debra Ceglia and Evelyn O’Donnell, for putting together such a spectacular event.
