Levittown Board of Education

The next meeting of the Levittown Board of Education will be held at 7:30 p..m. on Sept. 10, at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, 150 Abbey Lane in Levittown.

 

IT School Board Work Session

The next public work session of the Island Trees Board of Education will be held at 7 p.m., on Sept. 10, at the Stephen E. Karopczyc administrative building, 74 Farmedge Road in Levittown.

 

Joint Networking Event

Share your ideas, promote your business and expand your network. On Sept. 10, mix and mingle with business professionals from the Levittown, Farmingdale, and Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, from 6-9 p.m. at Palmer’s American Grille, 123 Fulton St. in Farmingdale. The event is limited to Chamber of Commerce members only. Cost is $20 per person to attend, and includes buffet dining and a free raffle ticket.  

 

Thursday, Sept. 11

Patriot Day

On Sept. 11, join the Town of Hempstead at Town Park Point Lookout, at 7:30 a.m. for a memorial service to remember those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. 

 

Summit Lane PTA

The next meeting of the Summit Lane Elementary School PTA will be held at 7 p.m. on September 11. 

 

Saturday, Sept. 13

Annual Country Fair

On Sept. 13, join the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Levittown, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for its annual country fair. For more details on the event or to reserve a vendor booth call 516-731-7387.

 

Sunday, Sept. 14

State Marching Band Competition

On Sept. 14, the Division Avenue High School marching band will compete, at noon, against other local schools during the New York State Field Band Conference competition at Brentwood High School.

 

St. Bernard’s Annual Block Party

On Sept. 14, join St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, 3100 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown, from 1-4 p.m. for an afternoon of food, games, music, and fun for all ages. St. Bernard’s will supply the chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, and potato salad. Attendees can feel free to bring a dessert for the sharing table. Bone Marrow Foundation 5K

Join bone marrow transplant recipients as they celebrate their health during the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation’s second annual walk/run for life, on Sept. 14, at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will go until 1 p.m.

 

Advanced registration costs $30, or $35 on the day of the race. Children/students cost $15 to participate.

 

The Gift of Life 5K is solely dedicated to raising awareness for bone marrow and blood stem cell transplants. All of the proceeds from the race go to add new donors to the worldwide bone marrow registry. 

Monday, Sept. 15

The Growing Heroin Epidemic

On Sept. 15, join the Levittown Historical Society at 7:30 p.m., when Anton Community Newspapers Editor-in-Chief John Owens will stop by the Levittown Public Library, 1 Blueglass Lane, for a discussion on the rising tide of heroin abuse that’s benighted local suburban communities of all socioeconomic profiles. Tuesday, Sept. 16

Public Hearing

On Sept. 16, the Town of Hempstead will hold a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. on the proposed addition of handicapped parking on public streets in East Atlantic Beach, Elmont, Levittown, North Baldwin and Woodmere communities.

 

Abbey Lane PTA

The next meeting of the Abbey Lane Elementary School PTA will be held at 7 p.m. on September 16. 

 

Wednesday, Sept. 17

U.S. Presidents and First Ladies

Mini-College Fair

On Sept. 17, Division Avenue High School will have representatives from several state and local universities and colleges come to the school, from 8:15-9:45 a.m., for a mini-college fair.

The next meeting of the Hempstead Town Board of Appeals will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Sept. 17, at Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington St., Hempstead.
