New York Institute of Technology-Old Westbury will hold two free lectures by award-winning author and renowned universal designer Cynthia Leibrock. With a mission to improve health, longevity, and life quality through universal design, Leibrock has a list of prominent clients, including The Betty Ford Center, Toyota, and The Smithsonian National Design Museum. Other projects of note: a showroom for Kohler in which over a million consumers learned about universal design and a “living laboratory” in Fort Collins researching the environmental needs of older people. Liebrock teaches architecture courses at The Harvard University Graduate School of Design and has conducted health care design research in Scandinavia, Northern Europe, and Japan. Cynthia’s own home, designed for aging in place, featured in the New York Times in 2009.
Admission is free and open to the public for both presentations. Architects, interior designers, and health care professionals, in particular, will find Leibrock’s insights and expertise in the field of design for aging and the aged of interest.
