GlenFest 2014 Only The Beginning

By all accounts, GlenFest was a huge success. The music festival held at the Homestead in Oyster Bay on Sunday, Sept. 21 featured 80 local musicians spread out in 25 acts over the course of 10 hours.

“I am elated that everyone in attendance had such a wonderful time and was allowed the opportunity to enjoy such a talented list of musicians,” said event organizer Dave Losee after the event. “This was a righteous festival with beautiful people for a beautiful cause.”

Not only did the festival bring together a large contingent of the community’s local musicians, it also raised money for the American Cancer Society. Losee said that he will be donating $700 in honor of his friend, Matthew McCabe.

And just days after the success of the first big music fest of this caliber in the area, Losee has already begun working on the next one.

“GlenFest 2015 is a definite for next September,” says Losee. “I’ll be working on the Glenstock 2015 festival now for the Homestead Oyster Bay slated for sometime in June. It will consist of an entire weekend and maybe even starting on Friday night through Saturday and Sunday.”

He says for Glenstock, all bands and performers must play music related to Woodstock and Woodstock only; and all bands and fans alike must wear Woodstock attire. He says he’s certain he can pull it off without a problem.

“I’ve proven my point with GlenFest. It’s all about the love, folks….and of course, the music!”
