East Hills resident Ellen Broder has been collecting one-of-a-kind handbags, jewels and accessories, since she was a teenager, falling in love with their timeless charm.
She chooses her treasures with thoughtful care to reflect her mood. Every day she changes her handbags and jewelry to match her outfit.
A display of Broder’s collection has been on exhibit at the Bryant Library since September and has proven to be so popular that it will remain there through October and November.
“Shopping vintage is my personal passion,” Broder said. “I am always on the look out. You never know what you’ll discover. I love and appreciate the history of how each piece was made, the quality and originality that was used in creating it. I feel great reusing and recycling my vintage items. I love wearing the old stuff. All the treasures that bring me pleasures.”
This fall, some of her home pieces will be in Old House Journal and Vintage Life, a United Kingdom publication.
