Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy has recently nominated 19 students from the Fourth Congressional District to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Anna Christ of Floral Park has earned one of the nominations to the United States Air Force Academy from McCarthy. Christ is presently attending Floral Park Memorial High School.
The service academies provide a first-rate college education in conjunction with military training in preparation for a career in the U.S. military. To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must obtain a nomination from a Member of Congress. Final appointments are then determined by each academy.
“I am deeply honored to nominate such talented students to our nation’s service academies; their hard work and commitment to excellence have made their schools and families proud, and their desire to serve brings confidence that our nation is in good hands for the future,” said Congresswoman McCarthy during the nomination announcements.
Christ was selected after a rigorous application and interview process.
