Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School recently hosted its first annual Volunteer Fair. Representatives from 15 community organizations including Special Olympics, Long Island Harvest, Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Mid-Island Y, The Book Fairies, Long Island Dietetics Association, Association for the Help of Retarded Children (AHRC), Plainview Hospital, American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Atria Senior Living and The Helpful Horse attended the fair. Students took advantage of this unique opportunity by connecting with representatives and learning about the different community organizations. Representatives from the organizations not only taught students the importance of volunteering, but made it possible for students to sign up for community service hours.
