The Brotherhood of Temple Judea of Manhasset will usher in 2015 on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 9:30 a.m. with a lecture by author and acclaimed speaker Saul Fathi on the Middle East and the world’s trouble spots. All temple members, family, friends and the community at large are invited to hear Fathi discuss current international affairs and respond to questions from his audience. Breakfast will be served at this event so RSVPs to brotherhood@temple-judea.com are requested by Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Fathi’s personal history includes his having been born to a prominent Jewish family in Baghdad, Iraq only to be smuggled out of that country with his brother at age 10 and eventually reaching the newly formed state of Israel. He subsequently came to the United States, where he became a certified electrical engineer, served as a high-level executive with Fortune 500 companies, and managed three high-tech companies. He wrote his memoirs “Full Circle: Escape from Baghdad and the Return” after retiring in 2003. Fathi has subsequently written several other books while lecturing on a wide variety of topics throughout the metropolitan area.
