High School Students Receive Honors In World Languages

Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s John F. Kennedy High School World Languages Department recently inducted 180 students to the American Sign Language, French, Italian and Spanish Honor Societies. The department held its annual Honor Society induction ceremony to honor John F. Kennedy High School’s most dedicated and diligent Language Other Than English (LOTE) students.

Student officers, family and faculty gathered to honor the new inductees and the school’s a cappella group, Chock Full of Notes, gave a performance in coordination with American Sign Language student interpreters.

Students needed to earn a 92 percent final average in their previous two years of study and receive a letter of recommendation from a teacher to be inducted into the honor societies. Once inducted, the students will be expected to maintain their grade point average and participate in community service activities.
