Girls’ Bowling Succeeds
At the halfway point of the season, the Mineola Girls’ Varsity bowling team has a record of 4-2 and is in third place in Conference 2 in Nassau County. Leading the Lady Mustangs is returning All-County bowler, Jr. Marissa Buonincontro who has a team high average of 163. She has also thrown the high game of the season so far with a 202.
Juniors Lauren Jenkins, Mackenzie Schnaufer and Catherine Leong have had high games of 181, 159 and 151, respectively. Also contributing to the varsity this year are juniors Samantha Henrichs and Lizzy Caccavale. The varsity team has victories over North Shore (twice), Locust Valley, Oyster Bay and have only lost to Sewanhaka and Carle Place.
The JV team has a record of 5-1 and is in 2nd place. Bowling for the JV are juniors Angela Steinmann, Pratibha Anand and Brianna Mundy. Sophomore Natalee Mundy and freshman Lyndsey Reuther. Pratibha has a high game of 142, Angela a 159 and Lyndsey a 170.
Boys’ Bowling Shines
The Mineola Mustangs Varsity Boys’ Bowling team is off to a fast start with a record of 4 and 2 in their first six matches. Leading the team is sophomore Tony Macchietto with a 208 average and a high game of 252. Also pacing the team are fellow sophomores Joe Tullo 178 average (215 high), Ryan Sellinger 182 avg ( 221 high).
Seniors Will Andrade 174 avg ( 222 high) and Danny Ferreria 187avg ( 232 high). The team is in second place and is in good shape to compete for a conference championship as well as make the Nassau County tournament.
