Children’s Show By Plaza Theatrical Productions
On Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m., the recreation and parks department will have a performance of Peter Pan by the well-known Plaza Theatrical Productions. This performance will be held in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall. Join Peter Pan and Wendy as they fly through this timeless classic. Tickets are $2, payable at the door, but reservations are necessary by calling the recreation and parks office at 516-465-4075.
Peewee Sports Sampler—Winter Session Announced
The Garden City Recreation and Parks Office will offer its poplar Pee-Wee Sports Sampler program again this winter for children ages 4 and 5 who are residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. This six-week program has been designed to provide an opportunity to try a wide variety of sports with basic instruction.
PeeWee Sports will take place in St. Paul’s Fieldhouse beginning the week of Feb. 8 and will run for one hour. Each session will incorporate new skills and free play in a non-competitive atmosphere. A different sport will be offered each week. Classes will be held according to the following schedule:
Wednesdays 1:30 to 2:25 p.m.
Thursdays Noon to 12:55 p.m. or 1:15 to 2:10 p.m.
Fridays 1:30 to 2:25 p.m.
The cost of this program is $80.
Open Gym Time For Grades 7 To 12
St. Paul’s Field House will be open for “open gym time” for grades 7 to 12 only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. The recreation staff will supervise the children and all play is strictly pickup. No organized practices or adults are allowed during this session.
Children’s Yoga Registration
Certified yoga instructor Connie McKnight has designed youth yoga classes for ages 6 to 18. Each class in the 10-week session is 55 minutes long. All classes will begin the week of Feb. 4. Any resident of the Incorporated Village of Garden City in this age group is invited to join these relaxing classes. The cost of this 10-week session will be $85.
The course schedule is as follows:
Ages 6 to 8 Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m. OR Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.
Ages 9 to 13 Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. OR Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
Ages 13 to 18 Thursdays at 6:45 p.m.

Zumba Gold Exercise Began
The recreation and parks department will again offer its Zumba Gold exercise program for seniors and beginners on Tuesdays at 2:15 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Jan. 27 in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall.
Certified Zumba exercise instructor Felicia Lovaglio will lead this group in this Latin-based exercise program. The 45-minute class will run for 10 weeks at a cost of $50.

The Garden City Recreation Department will this year be offering discount tickets to area ski resorts. Tickets can be purchased at the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave. Cash or check will be accepted for payment. Shown is the gate price and discounted price. New Men’s Tennis Programs At Community Park
The department of recreation and parks is announcing two new tennis programs for men, both to be held at the Garden City Community Park Tennis Center. The Men’s Learn and Play Tennis program is for beginner level participants and those who have not played in a while. You are invited to partake in this hour-long learn and play program on Sunday nights from 7 to 8 p.m.. The cost of this program is $175.
The Men’s Ultimate Tennis Workout Program is for more advanced players with a skill level of 3.0 and higher. In this program, your are invited to take advantage of the high intensity workout on Sunday nights from 8 to 9:30 p.m. The ultimate tennis workout program will carry a $260 registration fee.

“Exercise With Joy” Low Impact Exercise
Start your day with low impact exercise. Joy Cody has created a program with the senior and beginner population in mind. Classes will take place on Thursdays at 9 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall. The 60-minute class will run for 10 weeks at a cost of $50. This program is open to any resident of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. Classes begin Feb. 5.
Family Fun Time On Sundays
On Sunday afternoons beginning Jan, 11, St. Paul’s Field House will be open for Family Fun for village families. This open time provides the opportunity for families to enjoy various gym activities in an indoor environment. The gym will be available for use from 3 to 5:45 p.m. each Sunday until March 8.
This time is designated for family time only. No organized practices or workouts will be allowed. Although there will be staff to monitor activity, this is not a drop off program. Elementary-aged children are asked to be accompanied by an adult. For users’ safety, no lacrosse or baseball will be allowed.
Online Registration Now Offered
As a service enhancement for residents, the recreation and parks office now offers an online registration option for its programs. Residents may now use an online registration website to choose programs for their families beginning with the winter tennis program that opens on Dec. 5. To get a look at the new website, please visit www.gcreconline.gardencityny.net. In order for a resident to use the online registration option, the family will first need to visit the recreation and parks office at 108 Rockaway Ave. to verify residency and their family information and to receive their password. A list of instructions will also be included. Once you have your password you are free to register for any program offered. Visa or Mastercard is accepted for this service.
