Cops are on the lookout for suspect in the cold-blooded killing of a gas station clerk in Jericho – an incident that might be connected to two other gas station robberies earlier in the week.
At a briefing at police headquarters in Mineola, Inspector Kenneth Lack, Commanding Officer of the Nassau County Police Department’s public information office, said the department is investigating the shooting death of BP gas station clerk Hany Awad, of Levittown, and the incident’s possible connection to robberies at BP station’s in New Hyde Park and Thomaston.
“We are running ballistics tests to see if there is a match in the three cases,” said Lack. “We’re still investigating.”
According to authorities, a customer entered the BP gas station at 39 Jericho Tpke. on Jan. 28 and saw the male attendant, Hany Awad, of Levittown, laying on the floor behind the counter. Cops arrived and found the 56-year-old dead with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.
