Dressed in Grecian togas and grape leaf crowns, Fairfield Elementary School sixth graders celebrated Toga Day, a fun, interactive school tradition in which students bring to life the ancient civilizations they learn in the classroom.
In a room filled with parents and staff, the students crossed the stage to introduce themselves, enjoyed a lunch with foods from the regions they studied and competed in a host of “Olympic Games.” The much-anticipated event is coordinated by sixth-grade teacher Eileen Blum, with sixth-grade families contributing food and other goods to make it a memorable experience for students.
“The event is an ideal way to reinforce what is learned in the classroom and is truly part of the school-community fabric here at Fairfield,” said Principal Lori Dano. “Many thanks to all who made it a great success.”
