On Wednesday, March 11 at 2 p.m., the Unitarian Universalist Congregation will host a lecture by Daniel van Benthuysen on the current state of American journalism. The event is sponsored by Reach Out America. Daniel van Benthuysen is currently assistant professor of Visual Journalism, School of Communications at Hofstra University. He will speak on news bias, social and electronic media, the future of print journalism and how the political landscape is shaped by all of this.
A question and answer period will follow the presentation. All are invited. The event is free. Refreshments will be served.
Dialogue On The Israel-Palestine Conflict
Also on March 11 at 7:30 p.m., Unitarian Universalist Congregation will host a Shelter Rock forum, “Can Israelis & Palestinians coexist Peacefully? A Dialogue on the Israel – Palestine Conflict.”
Attendees can hear from Israeli and Palestinian peace activists Ali Abu Awwad and Rabbi Shaul Judelman, as they will share stories of working together as agents of change to bring an end to dissension in their region through nonviolent practices. Both will discuss how their work seeks to create an environment where effective dialogue and deep understanding can bring about peaceful solutions.
