Once again Reach Out America will present an outstanding speaker on a timely topic at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 11 at 2 pm. Their guest will be Daniel van Benthuysen who was Design Director for Newsday for many years and is currently Assistant Professor of Visual Journalism. School of Communications at Hofstra. He will speak on issues of. news bias, social and electronic media, the future of print journalism and how the political landscape is shaped by all of this.
In addition to his expertise in journalism and print he is an award winning
painter and an occasional freelance writing contributor to The New York Times, Newsday and The Wall Street Journal. He has a unique view of news production as an industry insider and brings an insightful perspective to the increasingly dizzying world of accessing information and the challenges of distinguishing fact from fiction, news from opinion. He is not to be missed! As always a question and answer period will follow the presentation.
