Riverhead Motorcyclist Killed in Pothole Crash

A 37-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding hit a pothole, causing him to crash in his hometown of Riverhead on Monday evening.

Riverhead Town Police said David Decarle was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Reeves Avenue when the crash occurred at 4:28 p.m.

A passing driver found him lying in the street and called 911. The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was later died.

Riverhead police detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-727-4500.
