The March 2 birthday of Dr. Seuss was the inspiration for many fun reading activities in the Roslyn elementary schools. This observance comes at the same time of year in which the schools celebrate PARP (Parents as Reading Partners) Week, a statewide program, which encourages reading by sharing excitement about books.
These activities included parent workshops, special guest readers visiting classrooms, dressing up as favorite fictional characters and even offering a green eggs and ham lunch option.
Students at East Hills combined a love of reading with a much-appreciated gift of books, toys, clothes and personal items to Ronald McDonald House, enough to fill two cars, in fact.
