Soiree At Sand Point This Weekend

Adventures in Learning’s 5th Annual Wine Tasting Soirée fundraiser will be hAIL_032515AAeld on Friday, March 27, at the Village Club of Sands Point in the mansion. Cocktails will begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by themed delicacies paired with selected wines and served in tasting rooms. Guests will again have the opportunity to enjoy the exquisite décor and ambiance created by Westhampton floral interior designers, Debbie and Steve Boehl of Honeysuckle and Roses. This annual fundraiser supports Adventures’ after school academic program for children in the Spinney Hill area of Manhasset and Great Neck.
Local Manhasset residents Margo and Roger Coleman and Lori and Elliot Fleishhacker are this year’s honorees. Diana Holden, Adventures’ Executive Director, said, “We are delighted to recognize such enthusiastic and passionate long-time supporters who have contributed so much to the community. Their charitable work definitely impacts students’ lives. Everyone at Adventures is very grateful for their volunteerism and dedication.”
Roger Coleman is a managing director and financial advisor who heads the Coleman Group at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, a team of 60 financial advisors and staff. As a community activist working closely with former North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilwoman Anna Kaplan, he led the Manhasset Valley Park renovation, installing state of the art playing fields. Both he and his wife, Margo, are active St. Mary’s Parish members and also Tuesdays Children supporters. They reside in Plandome where they have raised their four children.
Elliot Fleishhacker has been a retail and real estate entrepreneur for 30 years, and has also been trading commodity futures for ADM Investor Services for the past 10 years. He is an active member of the Boomer Esiason Foundation, having served on their board. Lori is president of her own interior design firm, Lori Fleishhacker Designs, which she founded 17 years ago. She has run the NYC marathon three times to raise money for cystic fibrosis and is also active with the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Married for 31 years, they live in Manhasset and have three children.
Guests can also enjoy the photographic portrait exhibit by internationally known photographer Deborah Feingold of Manhasset. Known worldwide for her iconic photographs of famous musicians, actors, writers, Nobel laureates and presidents, Feingold’s sensitivity towards her subjects and her keen eye and artistry are reflected in these exceptional photographs, e.g. the book cover photograph of Barack Obama for his autobiography Audacity of Hope.
Her work has appeared in Time, GQ and Rolling Stone. She recently published a fascinating volume of her photographs, entitled Music, that is replete with portraits of Mick Jagger, Madonna and many other famous music personalities and groups. Signed copies of Music will be available for purchase at the Soirée.
Michael Sansone, the Manhasset High School art teacher, will exhibit a gallery of artwork done by his Advance Placement art students. Holden also remarked that “we are so excited to view these special creations. The talent displayed by the AP art students is always breathtaking!”
