The Village of Mineola commenced its third straight week of hydrant flushing today. Mineola water customers north of Jericho Turnpike will continue until April 2. Customers affected by this scheduled maintenance have received a flyer distributed to all affected locations.
“Hydrant flushing is important to maintain our water system,” the village said in statement. “Thank you for your patience during this process.”
As a precaution, Mineola officials suggest that you refrain from washing your clothes during this time, check water quality after flushing hours by running the cold water tap and if it appears discolored, run the water until it clears. If the water does not clear within a few minutes, contact 516-746-0751.
Officials say you should consider shutting off your refrigerator ice maker temporarily while the flushing occurs.
