O’Brien Wins Library Elections

LibraryObrien_032515AAccording to early information provided by an library source in the heated Manhasset Public Library Trustee Election, Donald O’Brien has unofficially won the seat.

O’Brien who was seeking re-election to the post was running against two Manhasset residents Bill Harvey and Gloria Su. Both candidates drew over 200 votes but failed to gain the majority.

All candidates busily canvased the Manhasset constituency to support their efforts in gaining voter support.  O’Brien and Su had signs posted on North Hempstead streets.  O’Brien made calls offering rides to constituents to  the polls and ultimately won his post. His victory was similar to his first run in office to the commissioner position of the Manhasset Lakeville Water and Fire District when he ran against two opponents, splitting the opposing vote winning the seat.

O’Brien will serve a five year term on the Manhasset Public Library Board beginning July 2015.
