Motorcyclist, 27, Killed in Huntington Station Crash

A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday in a two-car crash in his hometown of Huntington Station, Suffolk County police said.

The tragic crash occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Walt Whitman Road, police said. The motorcyclist, Brett Rainey, was riding a 2000 Yamaha northbound when he struck a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan traveling southbound. The motorcycle and minivan collided as the 18-year-old driver of the Chrysler attempted to turn left into a parking lot, police said.

Rainey was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the minivan and his three male passengers were not injured in the crash, police said. The driver remained at the scene following the collision, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said. The investigation is continuing.
