Job Fair For Veterans
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and the Nassau County Local Economic Assistance Corp. host a networking program for business executives focused on hiring veterans and assisting veterans in seeking to start their own business. A panel of veteran specialists will discuss employment and business opportunities for veterans. The panel will include representatives of United Veterans Beacon House, the Northport VA Medical Center, North Shore-LIJ Health System, Long Island Development Corp., the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency and the Nassau County Department of Social Services. Event is at the Museum of American Armor at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Rd. The even is free of charge and takes place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Goodfellas Themed Wine Dinner
“He had this wonderful system for doing the garlic. He used a razor, and he used to slice it so thin it would liquefy in the pan with just a little oil. Come to the Mid-Island Y JCC, 45 Manetto Hill Rd., and get into the dancing state of mind. The show will feature belly dancing and a show performed by Esther Cohen. Come join in and bring a friend. Refreshments will be served. Event is from 7 to 9 p.m.

Good Shepard Hospice Bereavement Services are open at no charge to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss through death with its Spousal/Partner Loss Group. Poolside Cocktail Party
The Residence Inn Plainview, 9 Gerhard Rd., hosts 7-In-Heaven Singles Events as it hosts a luau-themed Poolside Party. This event, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., includes a luau menu, special desserts and lots of dancing. More than 100 singles are expected to attend this cocktail party with DJ music, dancing and icebreaker games to mix things up. Heart & Sole 5K Run/Walk
Plainview and Syosset hospitals invite community members to join in a morning of fun and fitness at the 12th annual Heart & Sole 5K Run/Walk at Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School on July 19. The proceeds of this event will benefit the Plainview and Syosset scholarship funds, which will be awarded to students in the hospitals’ local communities considering a career in a medically related field. The fun begins with registration from 7 to 8:15 a.m. The children’s fun run will take place at 8 a.m., with the 5-kilometer jaunt commencing at 8:30 a.m. This event has been growing in popularity each and every year and with close to 600 runners and their families participating last year, the 2015 race is guaranteed to be a very large and exciting turn out. The run is being presented by the Greater Long Island Running Club. Any groups interested in sponsoring the run should contact 516-719-2418.
