A 77-year-old Port Jefferson Station woman was killed when she crashed her car in East Setauket early Saturday morning.

Suffolk County police said the woman, whose identity wasn’t immediately released, was driving a Chrysler 300 westbound on Route 347 when her vehicle struck a guardrail and caught fire west of Old Town Road at 5 a.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sixth Squad detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-854-8652.
