Best Buddies Means Friendship And Inclusion

Since it began in 1989, Best Buddies International has hosted a leadership conference every summer on the campus of Indiana University. Best Buddies student leaders from around the world are invited for a weekend-long conference that promotes friendship and inclusion. Elizabeth Boyle, Manhasset High School Best Buddies chapter president, was invited to the conference this year. While at the conference, she had the opportunity to engage with other Best Buddies leaders from Long Island, other parts of New York and the rest of the country. The conference focused on teaching leadership skills for upcoming chapter presidents, such as how to fundraise effectively and how to spread the word about Best Buddies. Best Buddies is an international organization that promotes one-to-one friendships and equal job opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Manhasset Best Buddies club is made up of students from grades 9 through12 and promotes inclusion of students with IDD at Manhasset. All students at Manhasset are always invited to join the club at any point. The Manhasset Best Buddies program is looking forward to a great year to come!
