FPBS Third-Grade Scientists

Science is a motivating practice of discovery that helps satisfy the natural curiosity which our students come to school with each day. Students at the Floral Park-Bellerose School are so excited to visit the science lab where they ask questions, plan and carry out investigations through their hands-on experiences. Students engage in inquiry based learning where they pose a question, observe, experiment, measure and gather data related to the real world.

Third graders had various real world materials; balls, chain links and sand along with various measuring tools and equipment. Students worked collaboratively in partnerships and groups to use the materials to experiment and make a hypothesis about everyday items. After visiting the science lab, students come away with an appreciation of the natural world—fascinated by its intricacies and wonders and excited to learn more.
