It was a hotly contested, close race-and then it wasn’t.
Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas bested Republican candidate Kate Murray, 113,110 votes to 82,028 or 58 to 42 percent in the race for Nassau County District Attorney.
Murray, who vacated her position as Hempstead Town Supervisor in order to run for DA, held onto a small lead up until Election Day, but tumbled as the polls closed and results were tallied.
In other election news, the race for Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor is too close to call, as Democratic challenger John Mangelli leads Republican incumbent John Venditto by less than 100 votes, 22,454 to 22,386, with absentee ballots yet to be counted.
If Mangelli can pull off the victory, he will be the lone Democrat on Oyster Bay’s town board.
