Talented Neighbors
I am a Manhasset resident who moved here from Greenwich Village with my wife and daughter to raise a family. We could not be happier with what we’ve found here! The quality of life, the people, and the community have all exceeded our expectations. My wife runs the Book Club for the Manhasset Mothers’ Club and my daughter attends Munsey Park school, participating in the Brownies at school and attending birthday parties galore on weekends. This is what Manhasset has brought to me; what I have tried to bring to Manhasset is the theater arts.
Since moving here four years ago, I met Christian Thom—Manhasset born and bred, a product on Munsey Park and Manhasset High School—at the Starbuck’s on Plandome Road. Christian is now starring in my comedy, How Alfo Learned to Love, Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters in Manhattan, opening this December.
Another Manhasset resident is closely involved in this Off Broadway production. David Paterson, the Manhasset Park district coordinator, is a producing consultant and investor. Since David is both a producer and successful playwright and screenwriter, he has helped me in both of my roles as executive producer and playwright.
How Alfo Learned to Love runs from Wednesday, Dec. 16, until Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016. 59E59th Theaters is an award-winning theater, one of the most coveted and prestigious Off-Broadway houses in Manhattan.
Alfo will be advertised in The New York Times and New York Magazine. Alfo will also be reviewed by the major New York newspapers.
How Alfo Learned to Love has significant Broadway and film talent in it:
• Director Daisy Walker (assistant director on Broadway for Jersey Boys)
• Stage Manager Lionel Christian (stage manager on Broadway for Amazing Grace)
• Set designer Steven Kemp (associate set designer on 10 Broadway shows)
• Armen Garo (films, directed by Martin Scorsese: The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, and the new HBO series Vinyl. Armen also has a speaking part in the new Woody Allen film.)
• Robert Funaro (The Sopranos, and the new HBO series Vinyl, directed by Martin Scorsese)
• Joanna Bonaro (The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire)
