Ilana Sherman, a ninth grader at Great Neck South High School, is the U.S. Figure Skating North Atlantic Intermediate Ladies Champion.
Sherman received a gold medal in her qualifying round and then went on to finals at the North Atlantic Regionals held in Lake Placid last month.
The ninth grader is a competi-tive figure skater who started skating at Parkwood in Great Neck and now skates six days a week at the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ.
Sherman earned one of the top four berths to compete at Eastern Sectional, which will be held in Connecticut this month. She hopes to earn one of the top four berths to compete at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which will be held in January.
