On late night weekends, television viewers can find a 30-minute-long advertisement for a DV collection of episodes from the legendary The Carol Burnett Show running on cable stations.
But you don’t have to spend money on the product. On Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m., Temple Sinai of Roslyn will host a viewing of some of the best episodes from the groundbreaking years of Burnett’s beloved variety show. You’ll see the first episode aired, the first performances of many of her famous characters, legendary guest stars and show-stopping musical performances. The evening will also feature delicious latkes with applesauce and sour cream, along with an evening of entertainment.
The Carol Burnett Show debuted in 1967 and ran for 11 years, receiving 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history. TIME Magazine named it as one of the “100 Best Television Shows of all Time” and Carol Burnett has been honored with more People’s Choice Awards than any other actress.
The Sinai Social Club is sponsoring the night of latkes and laughter. Sinai Social Club members are admitted for free. Suggested contribution for Temple members is $5; for non-members $10.
Temple Sinai of Roslyn is at 425 Roslyn Road, Rd. For more information, contact Ethel Liebeskind at 516-621-6800 or visit the website at www.mysinai.org.
