Adult Programs

Dance Classes: Foxtrot, Swing And Salsa
Saturdays, Jan. 16, 23, 30 at 2 p.m. Join for an introduction to three different dances that will be given by teacher, coach and choreographer Elena Iannucci. Registration is available now at the reference desk.

Film Discussion Series
In a career that spanned over 50 years, director Alfred Hitchcock worked with the finest actors and actresses in Hollywood. Some of his greatest work came in films that featured Cary Grant as his leading man. This winter, we will feature all four of the Hitchcock/Grant films, followed by engaging discussion. All films begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1—To Catch a Thief (1955) and Wednesday, Feb. 17—North by Northwest (1959).

Chinese New Year Lecture:
Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. Celebrate the 2016 Chinese New Year with George Wei’s presentation—The Essence of Traditional Chinese Culture: Year of the Horse/Sheep/Monkey; China’s 5,000 years of history, Tang Dynasty, Ming Dynasty; Chinese Martial Arts, Tai Chi; Chinese medicine (herbs, acupuncture); and, Classical Chinese Dance, Music, etc.

AARP Free Tax Help
Wednesdays, Feb., March, through April 13, at 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. for middle and low income taxpayers, with special attention to taxpayers age 60 and older. Register at the Reference Desk or by calling 516-746-8488 Ext. 2 beginning Monday, Jan. 11, 2016. Walk-ins will not be admitted.

Children’s Programs
Jump For Joy
Tuesday, Jan. 19, and 26 at 10:30 a.m. Ages 15 months to kindergarten (with caregiver). In-person only sign up begins Monday, Dec. 21. A $10 per child, non-refundable, exact cash only, materials fee is due at sign up and covers all four sessions. Join Ms. Joy for fun music and movement activities with your toddler.

Baby Sign Language 1
Mondays, Jan. 25, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. Ages birth and up with an adult may sign-up to attend. Discover the many benefits of signing with your hearing baby. Learn over 80 signs that will help your child to communicate more clearly. Expectant parents welcome. No experience necessary. Limit 15 families. No class on Jan. 18.

Lego Builders Club And Contest
Mondays, Jan. 25, and Feb. 1 at 4:30 p.m. Children in kindergarten and higher grades may sign up for all three sessions. Create unique structures with our Lego pieces and meet others who love to Lego. Join our Lego contest to have your structure displayed and voted on in our Children’s Display Case for a month, or just build for fun.

Winter Storycrafters
Ages 2 to kindergarten (with adult caregiver). Storycrafters: Thursdays: through Feb. 11 at 10:45 a.m. Pajama Storycrafters: Wednesdays: through Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. Join for exciting stories, favorite songs, and simple crafts.

Pokémon Gaming Club
Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. Ages 7 and up-open registration. Meet other Pokémon fans, trade cards, battle Pokémon with them on your Nintendo DS or on the library’s Nintendo Wii. Free raffle prizes will be given away.
