Sixth Grader CYO Basketball

St. Mary’s 6th grade Conniff/Kolin/Leder/Mastando team finished the regular season with a 7-game winning streak to push their record to 10-2, earning the second seed in their division in the playoffs.   The team runs a well-balanced, up-tempo offense, emphasizing ball movement, sharp cuts to the basket, and shot selection.  The team has also developed a smothering defense that forces numerous turnovers, especially when the team employs its full-court press.   The regular season was highlighted by a home-and-home sweep of a very talented St. Agnes of Rockville Centre in the final two games of the season, which secured the number 2 seed for St. Mary’s.  The team roster is:  Christian Alacqua, William Cargiulo, Brendan Conniff, Matthew Giardinelli, Ryan Kolin, Michael LaSalle, Patrick Leder, Michael Mastando, Brendan Sargent, and Tommy Tsongas.
