Glen Head Woman Charged With Killing Newborn

A 20-year-old Glen Head woman was charged with killing her newborn baby shortly after giving birth at home last week, Nassau County police said.

Sharon Seudat, whom officers found bleeding heavily in her Walnut Street home, was taken to a local hospital, where medics determined that she had recently given birth at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, police said.

When officers returned to the home, they found an unresponsive newborn baby girl at the home, police said. The newborn was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.  An autopsy revealed the baby had been suffocated after being born in the home, police said.

Homicide Squad detectives charged Seudat with second-degree murder. A judge set her bail at $1 million bond or $750,000 cash. She is due back in court Tuesday.
