Old Westbury Crash Leaves Man Dead

A 24-year-old Mineola man died when the car he was a passenger in crashed in Old Westbury over the weekend.

Nassau County police said a man was driving a Nissan Maxima eastbound on the Long Island Expressway South Service Road when the driver lost control of the car and struck a curb and then a tree at the corner of Store Hill Road at 7:16 p.m. Saturday.

The driver was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The passenger, German Enrique Molina, was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center.

Homicide Squad detectives impounded the vehicle and are continuing the investigation but found no criminality.
