The Don Scott Memorial Foundation will be hosting its 6th Annual 5K Run on Sunday, May 15, at 9:30 a.m. (race day sign-up begins at 8 a.m.) in Manhasset.
The race sign in and start will be located at Mary Jane Davies Gazebo. Don Scott was a biology teacher, track coach and beloved leader at Manhasset High School for 42 years. In November of 2010, he lost his three-month battle with colon cancer. The Don Scott Memorial Foundation was founded to make a difference in the fight against colon cancer. The funds raised will be dedicated towards initiatives including increasing awareness, prevention and outreach. In addition, the foundation will support the needs of the Manhasset High School running sport including an annual student scholarship.
