We write today to express our wholehearted support for Karen Sloan, Emily Beys and Chris Nadolne for the position of trustee on the Port Washington BOE.
Karen Sloan, currently serving her ninth year as a trustee and seventh year as president of the BOE, has been an outstanding leader in our community. She has successfully directed the board through many changes and has proven herself to be a courageous advocate for the students and community.
Karen has led the board through the process of hiring a new superintendent, steered the district through the new tax cap law and effectively navigated the process of a putting together and passing a desperately needed capital improvement bond that will bring our facilities up to date over the next 10 years. Her accomplishments on our behalf are too numerous to count and she has our unwavering support.
Chris Nadolne has been a leader in the district since her children began at Salem. She was a board member of the Port Washington Soccer Club as well as a coach and president of the Salem HSA. She is serving her third year as trustee and has proven herself to be an advocate for our district.
We believe she will continue to serve us well.
Emily Beys is seeking her first term on the BOE. She is certainly not new to the Port Washington School District. She has served as president of the Weber and Schreiber HSAs as well as president of the Port Washington Parent’s Council. She has two children who have graduated from Schreiber and has a great deal of knowledge about the district.
As a parent of students who were involved in everything from honors and AP classes to interscholastic sports, she knows how important our extensive program offerings are to meeting the needs of all of our students.
She is involved in local politics and her experience will make her a strong asset for the school district. Emily has proven her dedication to the community and we are certain that she will continue that commitment as a trustee.
We believe that Karen, Emily and Chris represent the best for the future of the school district. They are proven leaders in Port and we know we can count on them. They have demonstrated their commitment in the time they have given to the Port Washington community and we urge you to join us in supporting their candidacy. A vote for them is a vote for the students.
