Lockhart Elementary School students in grades 4-6 participated in an author visit with Doreen Rappaport, who is famous for her wonderfully written picture book biographies. Students were introduced to books such as Abe’s Honest Words, Helen’s Big World and Jack’s Path of Courage during their library period in the weeks before the visit.
Students said they enjoyed the visit greatly and were fascinated by the amount of research that went into writing each book. They also reflected on the ways a real author visit enriches their own reading and writing.
