The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, along with more than 25 partner organizations, hosted Israel Fest, a Yom HaAtzmaut community celebration on Sunday, May 15, at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.
More than 2,000 people attended the event which featured rides, games, food, Israeli music and more. Yom HaAtzmaut commemorates the day that established the State of Israel by the Jewish leadership, headed by future Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion on May 14, 1948.
“It was an amazing day for the community to come together to celebrate Israel’s 68th birthday,” said Nadav Eylon, director of the JCC’s Center for Israel.
