heartsmallThe JCC’s annual Friendship Circle Luncheon, A Yellow Rose Event, raises vital funding for Alzheimer’s and dementia programs

More than 300 supporters turned out for the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center’s Friendship Circle Luncheon, A Yellow Rose Event, on May 11 at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club.

The annual fundraiser provides financial sustainability for JCC programs that improve the lives of those afflicted with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other chronic conditions, as well as support and education for their families.

The event honored Gisele P. Wolf-Klein, MD, director of Geriatric Education at Northwell Health, and Tikkun Olam Award recipients Judie Chessin and Rhoda Kregsman.
Attendees were treated to an exceptional live performance of music and comedy by entertainer/performer Sandra Bernhard, presented by Americana Manhasset.

2016 Gardeners’ Fair at Old Westbury Gardens

The Gardeners’ Fair is one of Old Westbury Gardens’ biggest and most important fundraisers. This year’s theme was A Celebration of the Classics, which came to life on Saturday evening, May 21.

The 2016 Gardeners’ Fair Preservation Project raised funds for furniture and other amenities to further enhance the recently refurbished Barn at Orchard Hill, which will be used as an indoor classroom for Environmental Education classes, as well as a venue for meetings, weddings and other affairs. Suzy and Fred Bancroft were this year’s cochairs. Interior designer Bunny Williams was the honoree.
