Brett Rabinowitz of Great Neck, a volunteer firefighter and summer camp counselor who has worked with students in the Great Neck Public School District’s recreation programs, is this year’s recipient of the Daniel Gillman Goodfellows Award.
Each year, the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) honors middle school, high school and college students on Long Island who confront intolerance, prejudice or other forms of social injustice.
The Gillman Goodfellows Award, presented by HMTC and the Gillman family at HMTC’s annual Tolerance Benefit, is presented to a college or university student on Long Island who has confronted an act of social injustice or intolerance or has helped others in need. The award memorializes and honors Daniel Gillman, a kind and generous young man who dedicated himself to aiding young people and adults.
